Pronoia is the unshakable conviction that life is a conspiracy to liberate you from suffering, fill you with joy, and make you really smart. ~ Rob Brezsny

It is the belief that everyone is out to help you and not “get you”.

It is the assumption that things put along your path of life are there to increase your level of understanding and tolerance and not simply an annoyance for you to overcome.

It is the belief that failure is actually a lesson learned. That events are happening for you and not to you and are constant opportunities to free you from the chains that you have shackled to yourself.

Being pronoic is not cool at all for being cynical and degrading is a more socially accepted sign of intelligence. Embracing pronoia means learning something from both Joni Mitchell AND Brintney Spears, Mother Theresa AND Paris Hilton, Abe Lincoln AND both George Bushes. Therefore you must become pronoic at your own risk. People will think you are weird and way too optimistic, happy-go-lucky, even. Maybe even a pussy depending on who you hang around with. It’s not for the faint of heart or the hardened heart for that matter.

Pronoia is the opposite of paranoia.

You can learn more about it at Rob Brezsny’s groovy site.

  1. Wow, pronia just gave me a warm, fuzzy feeling all over. Oops, hope I didn’t annoy anyone with that comment. And I hope I’m not being too cynical.

    Love ya

  2. You know what you’re getting for Christmas, don’t you? A pronoia t-shirt you bastard! 🙂
    Love ya back.
